teenage girls are fucking mocked for liking things that are marketed towards them and for them then when theyre sick of being shit on for that and try to like things not specifically “for them” they get shit on for “pretending” and they cant win at all its a lose lose situation being a teenage girl
You mean the generation that paid three times as much for college to enter a job market with triple the unemployment isn’t interested in purchasing the assets of the generation who just blew an enormous housing bubble and kept it from popping through quantitative easing and out-and-out federal support? Curious.
When comments are better than the article, Atlantic edition (“The Cheapest Generation: Why Millennials arent’ buying cars or houses, and what that means for the economy”)
Every time someone says we’re a lazy and entitled generation I’m going to show them this
They should be happy most of us haven’t moved to the moon yet
That actually sounds like a good idea at this point
Things that need to be more affordable:
-plane tickets
-whole, natural foods
-gas
-workout clothing
-phone bills
-University (education) tuition
Things that need to be more expensive:
-processed foods that are causing the obesity rate to skyrocket
-cigarettes
-alcohol
You are a genius.
but alcohol is free
have fun convincing society.
The first three on that “need to be more affordable” list are exhaustible resources. Meaning one day, we will run out! When things are in demand with limited resources, they tend to cost more. It would be nice if they did, for sure, but it’s not gonna happen unless the earth suddenly regenerates like new….
White privilege is some bullshit somebody made up because they were bored.
Let’s talk about colored privileges. How about all the millions and millions of scholarships to college available ONLY to colored people?
Let’s talk about how the American government (and really all of America) does so much to make sure colored people don’t get offended.
Let’s talk about how everyone is taught to tiptoe around using the word “black” and told to use “African-American” regardless of the true ethnic background of the person they are referring to, but not one person in the world makes the effort to call whites “Caucasian”.
Let’s talk about how even though colored people are JUST AS FUCKING CAPABLE OF CREATING A LIFE FOR THEMSELVES AS WHITE PEOPLE they are helped by the government for the sole reason that they are not white.
Colored people create racism themselves. Y’all sit there and accept the help and blame white people for it.
Literally nothing sets coloreds and whites apart from each other when it comes to going to college and getting a good job.
This post was completely uncalled for. I don’t know the reasons behind it-there could actually be a logical reason for the nonsense you just spewed- but there were so many things wrong with it I can’t even begin to try to understand it. Honestly, you sound like a brat who didn’t get her way about something and is blaming an entire group of people who had nothing to do with it.
However, because you are not “colored” (I’m assuming anyway. Assumptions seem to be your thing but I’m black so I steal people’s things) you can’t possibly understand what it’s like to live life as a “colored” person.
If I recall correctly, there are plenty of scholarships available that don’t specify race. I’ve actually seen scholarships for duck callers. DUCK CALLERS! I don’t know about you, but I don’t know too many black people that can call ducks lolz.
And, from my personal experience, many of those “COLORED ONLY” applications require you to be a first generation college student, have high test scores, have a high GPA, write an essay, prove financial need or some combination of all of the above. And some of them haven’t been scholarships at all, but loans in disguise! The ones for Native Americans require you to actually prove that you’re a native however that works. Hell, I’ve seen some for immigrants. It’s not like they’re just GIVEN away because we ask nicely.
The government makes sure we don’t get offended? No, we just get loud when we ARE offended. Have I accepted loans and grants and scholarships from the government that awards them? Damn Skippy. What am I supposed to do? “Oh, the government offered me $5,000 to help me pay my $30,000 tuition but I’m capable of creating a life for myself just like white people even though I have no income so I’m going to turn it down just like they would!” LOL, OK
But yeah, nothing separates us….as long as we dress, speak, look, or are named a certain way. You have no idea how much of an effort people of color make to ensure that their records are as racially ambiguous as possible. If ever I tell people where I grew up and you’d think I came from the depths of hell the way they react. How many times I’ve heard variations of “wow, you’re so articulate!” or “but you’re so smart!” or, better yet, “but you don’t act black” to explain why I don’t fit into a stereotype. How I always have to wonder if I’m actually wanted and accepted or if I’m the token black girl who’s filling a quota.
We create racism?
You hear that guys? We have completely imagined racism! Hooray!
Now that the mystery is solved, maybe we can get some help for those people that imagine being harassed and beat. We can get some help for those people who think people still do black face. I can even get help for all those times people have said offensive things about black people as a whole then gave me some variation of “but not you, of course! You’re different.”
Yep, totally colored privilege. I get it now.
Why isn't New Orleans Mother's Day parade shooting a 'national tragedy'?
“So I shouldn’t be surprised that the Mother’s Day Parade shooting has largely been forgotten. On Sunday, shots were fired into a crowd during a parade in the New Orleans 7th ward. Police said they saw three suspects running from the scene.
This is the largest mass shooting in the United States where the shooters were still at large after the crime was committed. Think about that for a minute. From Columbine to Virginia Tech to Fort Hill to Aurora, all the shooters were either killed or apprehended on site. But the person or people responsible for shooting 19 Americans are still free.”
